Meeting Place: Lions Head Carpark, on Lions Head Road, Mt. Macedon – Sanitorium Lake
(From Mt. Macedon Road turn onto Lions Head Road and continue approx 1.9 klms past the Days Picnic Ground (the closest toilets) to the Lions Head Road Carpark. )

Sanatorium Lake – nature walk – fungi hunt – approx 2.5 klms walk on dirt paths.
The path passes around the lake through several vegetation types, including tall Eucalypt forests and a wet fern gully.

Allow 2 hours spent here.

Fungi can be as small as 3mm so careful hunting and searching is required.

Approx. 12.15 pm we meet again at the same carpark.

Drive to the Mount Macedon Hotel for some small lunch.

After lunch more fungi hunting can continue here.
And a walk to the Memorial Cross is 5 mins away.

Toilets available at Days Picnic Ground. Lions Head Road.

Clothing Required.
Please Note: Long Pants, Long Sleeves, coat and beanie and possible gloves required.
It can get very cold here.

Equipment
Tripods are required due to low light areas.
Macro lenses – telephoto lenses are ideal for Fungi photos.
The lake has a great reflection when the water is still.
There is birds and sometimes wildlife.
